Monroe County´s Voluntary Term Life Insurance Program is custom designed for Monroe County employees. It is a cost effective insurance program that provides you the opportunity to choose a level of protection for yourself and your family conveniently managed through payroll deduction. If you suddenly died, your family could face house payments, unpaid bills, burial and funeral expenses or the medical costs associated with a terminal illness. Would they be able to maintain their current lifestyle without your income?  

Term life insurance is a good choice because you can get the most coverage for every penny spent. Group Voluntary Life Insurance from The Standard Life Insurance Company of New York can be a simple, easy way to help protect your loved ones. It offers you the opportunity to apply for the amount of life insurance coverage that you may need. County employees are eligible to purchase life coverage in units of $10,000, to a maximum of $500,000; however, the amount requested cannot exceed 6 times your annual earnings. Coverage for your spouse is available in units of $10,000 up to 100% of the employee´s coverage amount. Dependent coverage may be purchased in increments of $2,500 up to $10,000 for your eligible children.

During Open Enrollment eligible employees will have the ability to purchase life insurance at the guarantee issue amount of six times your annual salary (maximum of $250,000) without answering any medical questions. Insurance for your spouse can also be purchased under this program during open enrollment at the guarantee issue amount of $20,000. If you elect an amount of coverage for you or your spouse greater than the guarantee issue amount, you and/or your spouse must provide satisfactory evidence of insurability (medical history statement must be completed and approved by the insurance company).
